Championing The Cause
The Healthy School Champion (HSC) essentially serves as a liaison between our Building Healthy Communities staff and your school stakeholders – teachers, administration, students, and families. You’ll work alongside your BHC Coordinator this year to support your schools’ wellness efforts. This page will house a monthly checklist along with the monthly survey for you to complete.
October Action Steps:
- Introduce the Building Healthy Communities Program (if not already done in September) to your school staff during
an October staff meeting. Your BHC coordinator is happy to assist or take they lead but will need your help in
scheduling a time - Provide website registration information to your school staff
- Receive PE and recess equipment delivery (label if necessary) and distribute accordingly
- Receive and hang banner, hang BHC posters & distribute MyPlate posters to classroom teachers
- Ensure healthy tips of the day are being delivered (either through the morning accountments, social media,
newsletter, or within the classroom) - Assist school administration to identify a Healthy Kids Club Advisor and connect this person with the Building
- Healthy Communities Coordinator
- Start teaching the BHC lessons this month. We recommend your teachers start with the MyPlate lesson and if they
have time move on to the Mindful Eating lesson - Sign up for a monthly check-in call with your BHC School Coordinator
How To Create An Accordion
Step 1: Duplicate An existing accordion (hit the duplicate button on the BLUE section)
Step 2: Change name of button
Step 3: Go into the section (blue), row (green) and button (grey) update the container/content name.
- Hover over the area you want to change and click on the gear button
- Click on the “Advanced” tab in the system dialogue box
- Click on “CSS ID & Classes” section
- Under CSS Class Add a “-2” or the next consecutive number to the end of the existing text.
- Example: et-show-more-container-2
- Make sure to change the section, row, and button CSS classes and use the same number for all that are in the same accordion.
Step 4: Open the code block add the corresponding “-2” (or other number) to the end of all instances of the following:
- et-show-more-container
- et-show-more-content
- et-show-more-toggle
Step 5: While in the code block, repeat the name of the section title/button.
Find the section that looks like this at the bottom of the code
$(this).text(‘USDA Parent Tips’);
} else {
$(this).text(‘USDA Parent Tips’);
Replace “USDA Parent Tips” in BOTH places with the name of the section/button text
